Spain has long inspired composers both Hispanic and foreign. Conductor in residence Nathan Brock presents a panorama of its sounds, whether more folkloric as in the pages from the ballet The Three-Cornered Hat, or sublimated as in the suite Bizet extracted from his popular opera, Carmen, or in the shimmering Rapsodie espagnole by Ravel. On the same program OSM concertmaster Richard Roberts will perform Arc, a work for soloist and orchestra by Canadian composer Alexina Louie, short but intense, typical of the composer?s style.
