Make Room for Jazz - Orchestre Métropolitain du Grand Montréal - Montréal concert

When François Bourassa, one of our best Jazz musicians, composes a concerto for marimba and vibraphone, sparks are sure to fly, especially when the prodigious Marie-Josée Simard is the soloist! The saxophone, that most emblematic instrument of Jazz, will also take centre stage in the two twentieth-century works featured on the programme: French composer Claude Debussy?s Rhapsody for Saxophone and Orchestra (whose 150th birthday we will commemorate) and the swirling Fearful Symmetries by the American composer John Adams. The concert will end with Duke Ellington?s enigmatic Harlem.
