The phenomenal actor John Malkovich, star of such films as Dangerous Liaisons, Burn After Reading, The Infernal Comedy, and Being John Malkovich, portrays the master scoundrel and seducer Giacomo Casanova in THE GIACOMO VARIATIONS - a perfect blend of theatre and opera.
Based on the ever-fascinating life story of the famous Italian adventurer, writer, and womanizer, THE GIACOMO VARIATIONS depicts Casanova as he prepares to pen his memoirs, Histoire de ma vie, now a classic of erotic literature.
John Malkovich is joined on stage by a cast of superb actors and singers, accompanied by an orchestra of 35 musicians from Vienna who will perform excerpts from Mozart's most popular operas - The Marriage of Figaro, Così fan tutte, and Don Giovanni - this last of which is inspired by a Casanova-type figure. This remarkable new production features breathtaking sets and costumes.
Following the New York premiere of THE GIACOMO VARIATIONS, Montreal will be host to one of the most prestigious and original stage productions the city has seen in years. Audiences will be transported back to the time and world of an enduringly charismatic figure. The portrayal is larger than life when JOHN MALKOVICH is Casanova!
