An evening in Concert followed by a Milonga – Tango Dance Night with live music !
Instrumentalist, composer and harmonica player Franco Luciani, is considered by the critics as one of Argentina's most remarkable exponents of the new generation of tango musicians.
As a soloist, Luciani already has eight albums to his credit, which he performed in numerous concerts in the United States, Europe, Asia and Western Canada. As a guest musician, the Argentinean harmonicist had the privilege of accompanying the great Mercedes Sosa in Italy and England, as did he with the Peruvian singer Eva Ayllon in the United States.
While this is his first visit to Montreal, Luciani already has several presentations on Canadian soil: in 2008 he participated in the Music Fest Vancouver with his project Sanluca, as in a trio with Linda Lee Thomas (pianist of Vancouver Symphony Orchestra) and Miles Foxx (Canadian bassist), in the concert "Tango Encounter". The formula was so successful that the trio repeated in January 2010 with four concerts at the Vancouver Academy of Music (Music in the Morning www.musicinthemorning.org/), and a final in the legendary Hall of Teatro General San Martín in Buenos Aires, in April 2011.
Very young and according to the critics "with all the talent of the great", Luciani reflects in the repertoire of Armónica y Tango, his incredible technique and his vast expressivity gathered in the most beautiful versions of classics of tango as well as in new creations.
To Franco’s unique style unites the precision of pianist Daniel Godfrid, who integrated the Tango School Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Emilio Balcarce, and currently works with Lidia Borda, whom the “Rolling Stone Magazine” described as “the best tango singer of the present”.
Armónica y Tangois an oeuvre that emerges as a perfect synthesis of two young musicians putting all expressive resources to serve a flawless repertoire.
