Established in 2005, Sylhet Womens Medical College is a private institution specifically designed for female candidates. Situated at the intersection of Noya Sarak Point and Chowhatta Point in central Sylhet, the campus spans 2.9 acres and comprises medical and academic blocks.
The college and hospital complex consists of three buildings, one of which accommodates a 650-bed teaching hospital. Sylhet Womens Medical College offers a five-year MBBS program, followed by a one-year internship upon graduation.
The MBBS degree awarded by Sylhet Womens Medical College is recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council, as well as the erstwhile NMC (now MCI) and the World Health Organization. The college admits 100 students annually for the MBBS program, with approximately 50% of seats being filled by applicants from India, Nepal, and other neighboring South Asian countries. Hostel facilities are available for both local and international students.
Clinical departments at the college include neurology, psychiatry, dermatology, cardiology, and medicine, among others. The curriculum adheres to the standards set by the University of Dhaka, as per the guidelines of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
