Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) stands as a prominent public research institution located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Named in honor of the renowned 10th-century philosopher and scholar al-Farabi, KazNU holds the distinction of being the oldest and largest university in Kazakhstan, as well as one of the leading universities in Central Asia.

Originally established in 1934 as the Kazakh State University, the institution underwent a name change in 1991 to reflect its esteemed namesake, al-Farabi.
