HANDY HUBBY SERVICE: MY EXPERIENCE Rather than go on indefinitely, I will say this about Handy Hubby: He presents himself initially well with a ?real? invoice, seems to talk the talk, and indicates he can help with most any cosmetic work to be done. Like most salespersons he is a YES MAN and will sweet talk and say yes to most any work that you may show him When it comes time to do the work, it seems he will prefer to get paid in advance, cash, small bills. Once underway, the work is mediocre. You can see the pictures below. My advice to you if you are going to go with this Handy Hubby is to inform yourself as follows: 1) ASK for current references 2) Ask what the work timeframe is eg. 10 hrs or other for the job. Offer to pay time and materials eg hourly rate plus supplies with receipt. 3) Ask when the work will be performed. In our experience, the work that was charged 800$ for included about 50$ in regular hardware store material (ask for receipts), and 8 hrs labour (spread over 4 days! 2 hrs a day 2-4 pm) . Inconvenient? You bet. Expensive? Absolutely. Worth it? No comment. 4) Ask the payment method and terms. Avoid paying the bulk ?up front?. HE only seemed to accept small bills cash. Why, you may ask? Ask him! Try to get paid after the work is done so if there are any shortcomings, you are not on the hook. 5) Ask about a satisfaction guarantee. Maybe he will offer this if you ask. I wish we did 6) Finally, if there are several jobs that need to be done, it may be the best bet for you to, if you go that route, to start with just one job. See if it works, and if you get good value and quality work. Continue job by job, one at a time, so that you are not obliged nor out of pocket if things aren?t what you expected. BUYER BEWARE
