It is crucial to prepare your cake correctly before you decorate it! A demonstration on how to assemble a cake properly and prepare it to be later covered with fondant to achieve a clean professional look: straight lines and sharp corners. All shown on real cake.<br> * FONDANT PREPARATION. A demonstration on how to make, flavour, and colour your own fondant to achieve deep and bright colours using simple ingredients from your grocery store.<br> * FONDANT USAGE AND APPLICATION. A demonstration on how to work with fondant: kneading, rolling, covering a cake with, smoothing sides, sharpening the top edge, achieving a clean bottom (cut) line and borderless style. Finishing a cake board.<br><br><br>THE HANDS-ON PART:<br><br>Work time! Everyone in class will be given one 9' round cake dummy and provided with all necessary tools and materials. You will cover the cake dummy with fondant and make basic decorations:<br><br>- ribbons<br>- ropes<br>- ribbon roses<br>- simple bows<br>- fantasy flowers<br>- textures<br>- pearls<br>We will also learn using fondant crimpers, pearl dust, and confectioner's glaze (edible lacquer).<br><br> <br><br>A printed guide, containing cake serving size chart, recipes, cake assembly step by step <br><br>
