Variations S in Montreal on 01 February,2012 En coproduction avec la Tanzhaus nrw de Dusseldorf, le Théâtre du Bic et l’Agora de la danse. February 1-10, 2012 Énergique, intense et parfois même turbulent, ce spectacle de danse contemporaine revisite l’univers des Ballets russes d’une façon bien singulière. La chorégraphe Hélène Blackburn cherchait depuis longtemps à aborder cette période fertile de l’histoire de la danse, où des artistes ont rompu les codes chorégraphiques et musicaux d’alors. Elle trouve dans Le sacre du printemps des éléments propices à la création d’un spectacle pour adolescents, ces êtres traversant une période de la vie qui s’apparente aux mutations du printemps. Avec ses formidables interprètes et le compositeur Martin Tétreault, qui fait dialoguer la musique de Stravinsky avec l’univers des DJ, elle s’est amusée à revoir ce chef-d’œuvre pour en extraire toute la fougue et la passion du public auquel il s’adresse. Superbe chorégraphie portée par la virtuosité de huit danseurs, Variations S expose tout le style d’Hélène Blackburn qui a fait sa renommée. Une œuvre puissante !
