Back for a second season as Principal Guest Conductor, Julian Kuerti has been invited to lead a celebration of Vienna’s two great schools of composition. The earlier school is represented by Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture and Schubert’s final symphony, while the latter showcases Yukari Cousineau, Concertmaster of the Orchestre Métropolitain, in a performance of Berg’s Violin Concerto dedicated “To the memory of an angel.” It is one of Berg’s best known works and a Romantic masterpiece that has become a staple of the solo violin repertoire.
