click here to see more Montreal concert events/showsEleven years after Yannick Nézet-Séguin initiated the venture, the Orchestre Métropolitain draws the curtain on its performance of the complete, massive cycle of symphonies by Gustav Mahler. For the occasion: the very last symphonic movement completed and orchestrated by the Austrian master. Completing the programme is the Lyric Symphony by Alexander von Zemlinsky, a suite of seven lieder setting to music some of the visionary writings of the great Indian poet Rabîndranâth Tagore. This work is conceived directly along the same lines as Mahler's Song of the Earth, and is a gem well worth discovering.
