À l'adolescence, il prend d'abord ses marques en tant que musicien avant d'intégrer le chant à sa musique. Ses paroles authentiques, son timbre de voix particulier ainsi que sa dextérité à la guitare Dobro le font rapidement connaître à l'étranger et lui valent de faire la première partie d'artistes tels que Taj Mahal, John Mayer ou encore John Lee Hooker mais aussi de jouer en compagnie du grand Johnny Cash et de Daniel Lanois.
Rocco DeLuca grew up in California studying the likes of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and the darker and raw Delta Blues heroes of the 1920s. Initially only playing instrumentally, he later began singing as well. His authentic and unusual lyric and voice as well as his use of the Dobro, a particular design of resonator guitar, have garnered him international attention and acclaim and he quickly began his career as a solo artist opening for the likes of Taj Mahal, John Mayer and John Lee Hooker. He's also had the opportunity to play with Johnny Cash and Daniel Lanois.
