As a teenager, Jonathan Capdevielle liked to imitate comedians and popular singers. Today, mimicry and singing rejoice in his portrayal of a vulnerable human being. Adishatz/ Adieu (Farewell) depicts the journey of a boy caught between real life and impulsive fantasy. On stage, songs punctuate family conversations, pop culture explodes, and an autobiographical fiction becomes as engaging as a personal diary. The strength of Adishatz/ Adieu lies in its examination of the grey zones, the in-betweens, with Jonathan Capdevielle as the scribe recording all the crazy and tragic moments the world has witnessed. Never short of expression, he is a master of the art of the split personality, revealed through musical postures, nostalgic melodies, and cross-dressing. Jonathan Capdevielle shares with us an unbelievable and fantastic montage of longing, solitude, tradition, and family.
